Additional Information

Read 'Understanding Coordinate Management Esri Whitepaper' in particular section '2B. Coordinate Grid' at https://support.esri.com/en/white-paper/1301. The original line segment traversed the space between the vertices as a straight line. The addition of vertex along the line means storing the coordinate on the vertex into the database which means anchoring or snapping to the coordinate grid (See figure 16 in whitepaper above). The data's xyresolution is 0.0001 feet, which means the coordinate snap to a grid. The grid's resolution is 0.0001 feet/0.03048 mm. So movement of 0.01 mm (as mentioned in the description) is less than the xyresolution*1.414 (diagonal across grid). This behavior is expected and designed.
