Opening the attribute table within an editing session on a File Geodatabase feature class in which attachments have been enabled, drastically slows the spatial feature selection performance.

Workaround

When using a File Geodatabase and attachments have been enabled / created, within an editing session, do not open the attribute table to make edits, use the attribute editor tool to avoid the slow performance.
