Opening or saving a web map with group layers in ArcGIS Online Map Viewer Classic causes the widgets in ArcGIS Experience Builder to lose connection with layers, and returns the following error message, "Create data source failed ..... can not find data source."

Additional Information

Map Viewer Classic does not support group layers. The saving behavior changes the layer structure so ArcGIS Experience Builder cannot read the data properly.

Workaround

  1. Save the web map in ArcGIS Online Map Viewer.
  2. Ensure the layers are in groups and re-connect layers in the Query widget (choose the data source for each layer by clicking 'select data').
