Workaround

If the data is added using a Query layer, that table can be properly used in a map service.Another workaround is to set up the connection to the database using the Windows "Data Sources (ODBC)" dialog (in the System DNS tab) on the ArcMap computer (used to author the map) and all SOC machines. The name of the data source must be the same on all computers. Instead of using the SQL Server Native Client 10.0, create an OLE DB connection using "Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers" as the provider.
