Additional Information

From the examples provided, the differences are expected due to how vector tiles handle labeling compared to Maplex. In Lancaster: - Repeated labels (for example, golf course names) are caused by tile edges and boundaries. - Missing road names result from the less forgiving fitting strategy of vector tiles, which omits more labels. - Missing park and school names occur because the labels either do not fit within the polygon and its overrun tolerance, or, in the case of Wilderness Park Conservation Area, because it is a multipart polygon. Maplex labels each part, whereas vector tiles label it only once. All labels display correctly at the appropriate scales when the font size is reduced. In Lincoln: The difference between horizontal and straight polygon labels is caused by the vector tile implementation of stacking. Vector tiles apply their own stacking logic (unless forced), which is not applied to angled labels from the Straight in Polygon option. As a result, for a single line, a text string such as University of Nebraska: East Campus (even when angled) is too long to fit within the polygon and its 80-pt overrun tolerance at a 1:40,000 scale. Note: Multiline labels are still created when deemed to fit on rotated point labels. If customers experience issues not covered by this explanation, support can be contacted again with sample data and screenshots.

Workaround

For polygon labels, set rules for forced stacking in Maplex. Or, use point labels.
