Workaround

Depending on which part of the line users attempt to find, whether the beginning, middle, or end, each of these locations can be converted into points, and use the Locate Features Along Routes (Linear Referencing) tool to locate the locations again. 1. Open ArcToolbox. 2. Open the Data Management (Toolbox). 3. Open the Features (Toolset). 4. Select the Feature Vertices to Points (Data Management) (Advanced license). 5. Add the input features to convert to points. 6. Select the name of the point feature class to be created. 7. Determine part(s) of the line to be turned into output. Use the Locate Features Along Routes Routes (Linear Referencing) tool to locate the created points. To convert the points back to lines:1. Open ArcToolbox. 2. Open the Data Management (Toolbox). 3. Open the Features (Toolset). 4. Select the Points to Line (Data Management) tool. 5. Add input features to be converted to lines. 6. Select the name of the line feature class to be created. 7. Specify a Line Field or Sort Field, if applicable.
