For the origin feature class(es) being edited:1) save the PK value that you want to 'preserve'2) change the existing PK value to an unused value3) perform the edit operation(s); becuase the PK value is not equal to a value in the destination class, no relationships are broken by resetting FKs to NULL)4) set the PK of the resulting origin FCs back to the saved valueSteps to Reproduce
