Additional Information

This is working as designed. The Circle 2 and Square 2 symbols are not drawn with a hollow shape fill; the outline ring or square is actually the shape fill. The shape marker symbols maintain a Color property and an Outline Color property. When the default color scheme is changed to a new color scheme, it is applied to the Color property only. The Outline Color property maintains the default grey color. This behavior can be witnessed in other shape marker symbols that appear to have a fill. Thus, when the Outline Width property is changed from 0pt (default) to 1pt or higher, the grey outline stroke color covers up the underlying color.

Workaround

Choose an Outline Width value smaller than 1pt (such as 0.5 or 0.25 pt), or set the Outline Color to 'No color'.
