This is a known limit of the rich text editor. As a workaround, use the custom HTML in the editor to center the image.Workaround
After adding the image to the rich text editor, click the source button to open the custom HTML editor. Find the image code and add to the style tag: display:block;margin-left:auto;margin-right:auto;width:90%;
For example: style="display:block;margin-left:auto;margin-right:auto;width:90%;"
