In ArcMap, when a geoprocessing tool with a network analysis derived output layer is executed to run in the background, the network dataset layer referenced by the input network analysis layer cannot be used for any further analysis.

Workaround

- Remove the network dataset layer from ArcMap Table of Contents and add it again.OR- Open the network dataset layer properties and set the network dataset source using the Set Data Source button on the Source tab.
