Bug

In ArcMap, there is a shift when data is added after adding a basemap, and the data is not projected on the fly with the coordinate of WKID 6539.

Additional Information

This is the expected behavior. A transformation has to be used to line up data in this situation.

Workaround

  1. Navigate to the Data frame properties > Coordinate System > Transformation.
  2. Provide transformation > Choose the first option under choosing.
  3. Ok > Apply > Ok.
  4. For the map document, the data no longer have any shifts.

OR



  1. Navigate to the Catalog pane > right-click the data > Properties > XY Coordinate System > Clear Projection.
  2. Search for the Define Projection tool > Define the projection to WGS_1984_Web_Mercator_Auxiliary_Sphere.
  3. Now search for the project tool > Project the data with Auxiliar Sphere to NAD_1983_2011_StatePlane_New_York_Long_Isl_FIPS_3104_Ft_US.
  4. Add the data and basemap.
  5. For the map document, the data no longer have any shifts.
