In ArcMap, the Feature to Raster tool fails with the error message, “Error 000861: Invalid input features: <Input name> is not valid," when the layer name in Table of Contents is the same as the feature class name.

Workaround

  1. Enable Background Processing.
  2. Ensure the layer name in Table of Contents is not the same as the feature class name.
