Possible workaround, but this affects the Windows Camera app on the device.
This workaround has been tested successfully. It requires some Registry changes: Camera reverse the image! - Microsoft Community. Notably, after the test, the problem occurs again. After the issue is fixed in ArcGIS Survey123, running the Windows Camera app results in the rear camera view on the screen being flipped horizontally. However, taking a picture with the app after changing the registry indicates that the issue is fixed by itself and the registry is set back to the original entry. ArcGIS Survey123 is back to having the same issue: the camera image flips horizontally. Registry changes are made by a different user who has elevated permission.
Implementing the Registry change may fix the issue in ArcGIS Survey123 but then cause an issue for the Windows Camera app and potentially other apps that might be running on these devices. Also, the registry change does not apply permanently, the use of another app like the Windows Camera app resets the registry value back to the default, and ArcGIS Survey123 has the same problem.
