In ArcGIS Pro, when creating a feature with the Trace tool, there is a performance decrease once the trace line crosses over itself.

This issue is not reproducible in ArcGIS Pro 2.9.2. For tracing performance, turn off snapping for any layers that are not being traced. This can be done dynamically anytime while sketching from the List By Snapping tab in the Contents pane.
