In ArcGIS Pro, using 'contains [the text]' in an SQL expression on the Select By Attributes tool dialog box on a feature service layer based on certain attributes, the selection fails and returns an error message, "ERROR 000358: Invalid expression." although the queried records exist in the attribute table.

This issue is not reproducible in the latest version of ArcGIS Pro. If the issue persists, contact Esri Support Services.Workaround
Add a dash (-) to the query attribute field in the SQL expression on the Select By Attributes tool dialog box.
