In ArcGIS Pro, creating a default style from a legend item does not preserve the layer name property.

This only occurs if the legend item style is applied to a layer with the single symbol renderer and is done to avoid showing the layer name twice, since in that case, the label name and the layer name are the same.Workaround
Manually turn on the layer name property after adding a new layer to the legend.
