In ArcGIS Pro 3.5.2, attempting to add .cit raster files returns the “Unsupported data type” error, even though earlier versions (for example, 2.4.3) allowed the files to be added.

Workaround

If the user has access to ArcMap, the .cit raster files can be converted into an ArcGIS Pro supported raster format before use.

Steps:

  1. In ArcMap, create a folder connection to the directory containing the .cit files.
  2. Right-click the .cit file and click Export > Raster to Different Format.
  3. The Copy Raster tool opens. Leave most settings as default and click OK.
  4. The exported raster dataset can then be added and used in ArcGIS Pro without issue.
