Additional Information

The Create 3D Object Scene Layer Package tool requires certain 3D properties to be in the layer definition. For example, multipatch feature layers must display at an absolute height. When running the Make Feature Layer tool outside of ArcGIS Pro, there are no 3D properties written to the layer definition and this behavior is as designed for the Make Feature Layer tool. When passing that layer into the Create 3D Object Scene Layer Package tool, it returns this error message as there are no 3D properties.

Workaround

The correct workflow is:

  1. Add the feature class to a scene, then list layers.
  2. Save that layer to a .lyrx file or manually add the feature class to a scene.
  3. Save the layer in ArcGIS Pro.
