In ArcGIS Online when adding a service definition file to My Content with a name that is contained within the name of an existing service definition and the services are stored in the root folder, an error occurs: 'file already exists in this folder.'

Workaround

Option 1: Add the new service definition file to a different folder than the services that contain the name are stored within.Option 2: Publish from ArcGIS Pro.
