Workaround

In the example data, the Status field is a text value with NULL values enabled. The search in ArcGIS for Windows Mobile 10.2 failed because one record had a default value of <NULL>. For the search to succeed, change the NULL value to double quotation marks to signify that it is empty. The steps are as below: 1. Highlight the entire record that requires changing. 2. Right-click on the field and then click the Field Calculator option. 3. Type in double quotes ("") in the box to calculate the field. 4. Click OK. 5. This results in the NULL value disappearing and the record turning blank with no text or numbers. 6. Re-symbolize the data based on the preferred choice, and the blank record symbolized alongside the text can be seen. 7. Re-publish or overwrite the mobile service. 8. Re-add the service to the mobile project. 9. Re-save the project. 10. Open in ArcGIS for Windows Mobile 10.2. 11. Test the search results.
