In ArcGIS Field Maps, automatic sync requires the offline area in use to be open in order to sync changes when connected, rather than just having the application on-screen, for both Android and iOS devices

This is working as designed. With the automatic sync setting enabled, the current map area will auto-sync under the following conditions: 1. Application is on the screen. 2. Device has a data connection. 3. The offline map area is active (on the screen).
