Additional Information

With the January 2018 update to the basemaps, +Vivid imagery is used in the service. This greatly improves the currency (how up to date) the images are within the service. In some cases though there could be clouds or differences in resolution. The older images are available through the World Imagery (Clarity) basemap. User can access the Clarity version of the World Imagery Basemap here: https://arcgis-content.maps.arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=ab399b847323487dba26809bf11ea91a This blog post talks about this change. https://blogs.esri.com/esri/arcgis/2018/01/10/whats-new-in-world-imagery-basemap-january-2018/ The World Imagery map is designed to present the most recent, high-quality imagery available while the Clarity basemap presents an alternative view, enabling users to access imagery from the archive that may not be otherwise be available. The imagery in this view may be less current than the default imagery (e.g. more than 3-5 years old), but support use cases (e.g. data collection) where the image clarity or accuracy is more important. In areas where the most recent imagery is also the clearest and/or most accurate available, the same imagery are presented in both views.
