If the token shared key for the Portal for ArcGIS site is different from the token shared key in the haconfig.properties file, hundreds of log errors, "High Availability: The Portal sharedkey is not equal to the High Availability site configuration" are generated without a clear reason or resolution.

Workaround

  1. Take note of the token shared key in the portaladmin, security, tokens.
  2. Stop the Portal for ArcGIS windows service (on both systems).
  3. Access the haconfig.properties file (it is in the UNC/network shared Portal content, items, portal-ha folder).
  4. Open the haconfig.properties file and edit the: tokenConfig = {\"sharedKey\":\"RANDOMCHARACTERSHERE\"} so that the "RANDOMCHARACTERSHERE" is displaying the token key taken from Step 1. Ensure to leave the slashes in the brackets.
  5. Start the primary Portal for ArcGIS machine and the standby machine. Confirm that they are running.
  6. Confirm that the errors have stopped.
