If an entire map service is added to a web map before building a Minimalist instant app, the features are not highlighted when selected in the pop-up.

Additional Information

This is a known limitation in the ArcGIS 4.x JSAPI. It is on the roadmap to add support for highlight on Map Image Layers later this year.

Workaround

Add one layer at a time.
