If an ArcGIS Server Web Adaptor for Java on Linux starts up before the ArcGIS Server is up, the ArcGIS Web Adaptor is not be able to connect to the ArcGIS Server and returns the error “Could not access any GIS Server machines. Please contact your system administrator." To resolve this issue, restart the ArcGIS Server Web Adaptor for Java or rerun the configurewebadaptor.sh.

Workaround

Add a delay to the start of the Apache Tomcat web server upon reboot of the machine to prevent it from starting before ArcGIS for Server.For example in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), remove Apache Tomcat from startup if it is set to start automatically by using the following command, chkconfig tomcat7 off.Then, add the following lines to /etc/rc.local to start Tomcat after other init scripts have run, enter the command given:#wait a minutesleep 60#path to whevere tomcat startup.sh lives/opt/tomcat/bin/startup.sh
