If a Linux Amazon instance created from a template has auto-scaling enabled, the new instances created by the auto-scaling rules will not use the template AMI, but will instead use the default Esri AMI.

Additional Information

There needs to be 2 instances when creating template if you want the auto-scaling instances to use the customized AMI as well.
