Additional Information
The Excel to Table step has you overwriting (using the same name in the same gdb) the Pointtest feature class with a Pointtest table (the output of Excel To Table). A warning message was even presented on the parameter indicating the data exists and was going to be overwritten. This is why the layer was removed from Contents - you chose to overwrite it. Workaround
Remove the join and use the Excel to Table tool to rejoin the data.
