If a feature class is joined with an Excel spreadsheet using the Excel to Table tool with the exact same name as the feature class, the feature class is removed from the file geodatabase.

Additional Information

The Excel to Table step has you overwriting (using the same name in the same gdb) the Pointtest feature class with a Pointtest table (the output of Excel To Table). A warning message was even presented on the parameter indicating the data exists and was going to be overwritten. This is why the layer was removed from Contents - you chose to overwrite it. Workaround

Remove the join and use the Excel to Table tool to rejoin the data.
