Group exports fail when the hosting ArcGIS GIS Server is federated with the ArcGIS Enterprise portal using the web adaptor URL for both the services and administration URLs.
These settings can be checked through the Portal Administrator endpoint, i.e.,
https://gisserver.domain.com:7443/arcgis/portaladmin/federation/servers/...
In the logs, you will see the following warning:
WARNING: Failed to export item 'eb9fe0c6ff0444ecbfd53029d5a12327' into an export package : 'java.lang.Exception: Server returned HTTP status code 404. Requested URL: https://dev0011111.esri.com/server/rest/directories/arcgisjobs/system/publishingtools_gpserver/jd7541ea92c03407b837cea99d60d9e2d/scratch/countries2.sd?f=json&token=dRoRwTEGX40k-y3LVMInJxCYmzMpmiPhOisro-smCty94kREsVmSwCiKJzPko83O4uQbaw9ApIfMwQwvv-FwCHIBmX4jFz5lHzeXtG2vQeXobHCN9JjQOHTTdAfk2m9x02crUo_lI9eomz7LhfXLxmtm5UMldJ2qnzhHSSerATI.&'
The group export fails because the web adaptor web server blocks downloading the export result, which is a .SD file.
This issue is associated with a known defect:
BUG-000130996 : Group exports fail when the hosting ArcGIS GIS Server is federated with the ArcGIS Enterprise portal using the web adaptor URL for both the services and administration URLs.
This can be resolved by manually updating the web server to support the .SD item type.
