Geosearching in a web map or web application in ArcGIS Online sends requests to all geolocators configured within the utility services of the organization, rather than defaulting to the ArcGIS World Geocoder as documented.

Workaround

Prior to searching, manually select 'ArcGIS World Geocoder' from the drop-down in the search box

This creates a larger problem, as publicly available web maps and applications may be accessed by users unfamiliar with ArcGIS Online, and who may not know to select a specific geocoder while looking at a publicly accessible map or app.
