Exporting Portal for ArcGIS site operation fails and returns the error message, "Failed to export site. Illegal char <:> at index 61: <ExportSiteDestinationPath>" due to an invalid character in the output file.

Additional Information

This issue is related to characters that are not supported in file names, such as colons.

Workaround

  1. Change the Portal for ArcGIS machine time zone to another time zone. For example, (UTC+02:00) Tripoli or Libya Standard Time
  2. Restart the Portal for ArcGIS machine and make sure the changes go through by checking the Registry: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\TimeZoneInformation].
  3. Navigate to ArcGIS Portal Administrator Directory and retry the Export Site operation. The Export Site operation completes successfully. In this case, "The exported site is available at this location: C:\exportsitedestinationpath\20230502-200579-EET-FULL.portalsite. The ':' character no longer appears.
