Exporting feature classes to shapefile using Export>to Shapefile(multiple) with "DOMAIN\USER" in the feature class name string fails with "Problem Generating Output Name".

Workaround

1. Export the feature classes to a file geodatabase and export to a shapefile from there.2. Export a feature class individually.3. Use database authenticated users or 'dbo'.
