Bug

Exporting a layout that contains the 'Terrain: Elevation Tinted Hillshade' layer to a high dots per inch (dpi) PDF file does not draw the entire layer and some grids are visible for all image quality.

Additional Information

The layer is restricted to a 5,000 x 5,000 pixel limit in a single request. When reprojected and exported at higher quality/DPI, the requests to the service exceed that limit and therefore come back empty. Thus the described behavior is by-design based on the limits of the imagery service. The grid lines mentioned in the bug report are defects caused by the PDF viewer and will go away if you zoom into the PDF itself. We have previously reported this bug to Adobe (https://forums.adobe.com/thread/2598542)

Workaround

  • Set the resolution to 96 dpi, and select the Normal, Faster, or Fastest image quality.
  • Set the resolution to 300 dpi, enable the 'Output as Image' option, and set the Image Quality to Normal.
