Description

When installing the ArcGIS plugins for Eclipse, the installation process hangs without completing the installation.

Cause

The Doc plugin on install is memory intensive and the default 256M in the eclipse.ini file is not enough memory for install.

Workaround

Edit the eclipse.ini file.
 
  1. Browse to the Eclipse folder and open the eclipse.ini file in Notepad or another text editor. Increase the memory specified in the file by increasing the -Xmx setting.

    -vmargs
    -Xms40m
    -Xmx512m

    Increasing the memory allows the plugins to install.
