Additional Information

The placement of labels for custom overlay grids occurs near the geometric intersection of the data frame edge and the geometry of the line of the polygon being used to define the grid. In ArcMap, the tolerance for this intersection is large enough that additional intersection points were determined even if the grid feature and the data frame edge do not intersect, resulting in additional labels. In ArcGIS Pro 2.6, the tolerance is finer, resulting in fewer extra labels.
