Description
Deleting a feature dataset in ArcCatalog orphans any contained feature classes containing a raster field. After deleting, the feature class becomes a stand-alone feature class at the workspace level of ArcCatalog and is no longer registered with the geodatabase.
Cause
Due to a bug in ArcGIS, the delete feature is not correctly removing all references to the feature class as a result of the presence of the raster field.
Without ArcGIS 9.2 SP6, the workaround for this issue is to refresh the connection to the ArcSDE geodatabase in ArcCatalog and delete the stand-alone feature class.
Refresh the connection to the ArcSDE geodatabase by pressing F5.
Delete the stand-alone feature class that is now present.
