Deleting a cell's value in an attribute table where the field data type is Text returns a blank value rather than a NULL value.

Workaround

Deleting values from the attribute window on the Editor toolbar does not reflect this behavior. Users can delete values from fields in the attribute window to be returned with a NULL value.
