Additional Information

When a hosted feature layer view is created, the feature templates defined on the source feature layer are acquired. After creation, feature templates on views function independently from those on the source feature layer. When the source feature layer is overridden, the new default value is applied to the feature template and the field. The change to the feature template on the source does not flow down to the feature templates on the view layer because of the earlier described independence.

Workaround

  • Update the feature template on the existing view. This can be done in ArcGIS Online Map Viewer using the following steps: Open the view in ArcGIS Online Map Viewer > click 'Configure editing' > Templates > change the default value for the specified field > Save.
  • Creating a new view layer after the feature layer has been overwritten.
