Creating vector tile packages (VTPK) using the Download Map tool causes the VTPKs to lose the basemap style when added to a new map.

Additional Information

The vector tile packages (VTPK) represent the base service and the layer has the styling properties. The behavior is as designed and not a bug.

Workaround

  • Save the vector tile packages (VTPK) as a layer file (.lyrx), and use this if bringing the basemap into other projects.
  • Open the VTPK with 7-zip, and manually change the style JSONs within the package.
