Additional Information
There is a known limitation that users cannot template sites that reference feature services from other organizations (whether it is directly in the layout through a statistics or chart card, or in an embedded app, map, or survey). Users must disassociate any feature services from external organizations before saving a site as a template. When there is a need to include a reference to that original feature service in the template (such that the app template that consumes it is part of the template and created when the template is activated, but the feature service maintains a reference to the original item), users can add the reference by itemId in the advanced template editor. For a demonstration of the advanced template editor, please refer to this DevSummit presentation: https://youtu.be/Tqrz-zGH3LQ.
