Workaround

Following the process in ArcMap 10.8.1 using two X, Y coordinates, the system creates the correct rectangle. ArcMap retains the user specified direction, when the second vertices are added.

In ArcGIS Pro, similar rectangle shape is obtained when user adds three X, Y coordinates:

  • Click Edit> Create Feature> Active template button> Rectangle.
  • Right-click in the map and select absolute X,Y, Z to add the first vertex.
  • Right-click again select absolute X,Y,Z to add the second vertex on the same side of the feature.
  • Right-click > direction> pick "P" and add 90 as the value.
  • Right-click and select absolute X,Y,Z and add the third vertex.
