Creating a new item based on an existing feature layer (with attachments enabled) that contains a GlobalID field created in ArcGIS Online returns the error message "Error: There was an error while adding this item."

Workaround

1. Create the original feature layer in ArcGIS Pro and publish it. It is not necessary to enable attachments and add the GlobalID field in ArcGIS Pro, these steps can be completed in ArcGIS Online. After that, the layer can be used as a template to create a new item.

2. Create the original feature layer in ArcGIS Online. Disable attachments (warning: disabling attachments permanently removes all existing attachments), add the GlobalID field and enable attachments again. After that, the layer can be used as a template to create a new item.
