Additional Information
This is only possible if the new notebook is in a different folder. Right-clicking the Notebooks node in the Catalog and clicking Paste results in the copy being placed into the project home folder. When another notebook has the same name in a different directory, it appears identical but have different paths, and the hover text shows the different ipynb file paths.
Copying and pasting a notebook from the project home folder will result in "_1" being appended to the name.
Workaround
Rename the copied notebook in the Catalog pane.
