Use the latest version of ArcGIS Pro to improve functionality.Workaround
Use the Generalize tool before publishing to ArcGIS Online. Click ArcToolbox > Editing Tools and click the Generalize tool.
Note: This tool does remove vertices from the data, ensure to create a copy to use this workaround.
