Chinese characters from a Computer Aided Design (CAD) file are not readable in ArcGIS for Desktop 10.3.

Additional Information

This issue is due to font discrepancies. In order to remedy this issue, please use the steps in the workaround to substitute the default font.

Workaround

1. In the table of contents, right-click the particular Computer Aided Design (CAD) file and open the Layer Properties panel at the bottom of the resultant context menu.2. Click the Fonts tab of the Layer Properties window.3. Select the offending font (in this case, bfhei0106.shx).4. In the Text Symbol area, use the font combo box to navigate to and select the MS Mincho font.5. Apply the change and click OK.The Chinese characters should now display properly.
