Changing the letter case of field names and field aliases from upper case to lower case, or vice versa, using arcpy.AlterField_management does not work in ArcMap.

Additional Information
ArcGIS Desktop (including ArcGIS Engine and ArcObjects) is in mature support and will be retired March 1, 2026. Mature support means the end of functionality-based patches and hotfixes; therefore, this issue will not be addressed. There are no plans for future releases of ArcGIS Desktop, and it is recommended that you migrate to ArcGIS Pro. Apart from the letter case, change the field names as well.
