Attempting to add an expression to the Styles panel for an ArcGIS Online hosted feature layer with no data in ArcGIS Online Map Viewer causes the Styles panel to gray out.

This issue is no longer reproducible in the current version of ArcGIS Online. If the issue reoccurs, please contact Esri Support Services.Workaround
Using the same workflow in Map Viewer Classic allows the addition of the expression. Alternatively, adding point data in Map Viewer ensures the expression loads properly.
