ArcMap version 10.2.1 until 10.3.1 crashes when stopping an editing session of the Trace tool if the 'Create feature using template' setting is disabled or unchecked in the ArcMap Advanced Setting utility.

Workaround

When tracing the line, double-click anywhere on the line before stopping the editing session. ArcMap does not crash.
