Additional Information
ArcGIS Desktop (including ArcGIS Engine and ArcObjects) is in mature support and will be retired March 1, 2026. Mature support means the end of functionality-based patches and hotfixes; therefore, this issue will not be addressed. There are no plans for future releases of ArcGIS Desktop, and it is recommended that you migrate to ArcGIS Pro. - Log in to ArcGIS Online.
- Search for any map package such as 'Chicago topo map'.
- Disable toggle Only search in Esri Support Services.
- Open the map package.
- Click Open in ArcGIS Desktop > Open in ArcMap. .mpk file is downloaded.
- Open the file and it automatically opens ArcMap.
Or
- Open a new blank map in ArcMap.
- Open the search window.
- In the Local Search drop-down, select ArcGIS Online.
- In the search box, search for any map package such as 'Chicago topo map'.
- Right-click on the name and select Add to Map.
