ArcMap crashes when converting picture marker symbology to representations when data is stored in a version 10 geodatabase; it works fine if the the geodatabase is version 9.3.

Picture markers successfully converted to representations in 10.0 gdb

Workaround

Create a 9.3 geodatabase, import the feature classes to have symbology converted to representation and use it instead.
