ArcMap 10.8 annotations do not display if the annotation feature class (polygon) has a query which includes Shape.Area with data coming from an SQL enterprise geodatabase.

Additional Information
ArcGIS Desktop (including ArcGIS Engine and ArcObjects) is in mature support and will be retired March 1, 2026. Mature support means the end of functionality-based patches and hotfixes; therefore, this issue will not be addressed. There are no plans for future releases of ArcGIS Desktop, and it is recommended that you migrate to ArcGIS Pro. Do not use Shape.Area() in a query layer for annotation feature classes.
